How to create your first server on Schokr
Create a free game server, Discord bot or app on Schokr: pick a template, a location and resources, then start it from the console.

To create a server on Schokr, open the console, start a new server, choose a template, pick a location and give it a share of your team's resources. It takes about a minute.
Before you start
- You need an Schokr account. See creating an account.
- Know roughly what you want to run, for example a Minecraft Paper server or a Python Discord bot.
- Check how much of your team's pool is free. The free package is 6 GB memory, 150% CPU and 10 GB disk across up to 4 servers.
Steps
- Sign in at console.schokr.gg and make sure you are in the right team.
- Start creating a new server.
- Name it. Use something you will recognize later, like "Survival SMP" or "Music bot".
- Choose a template. Templates (also called eggs) decide what software is installed. See choosing a template.
- Choose a location. Pick the one closest to your players or users. See choosing a location.
- Set resources. Assign memory, CPU and disk from your pool. You can change these later.
- Create the server. Schokr installs the template, which can take from a few seconds to a few minutes depending on the game.
- Open the server and go to its console. When installation finishes, start the server.
After it starts
- Find your address. Your server's connect address (IP and port) is shown on the server page and in the Network section. Players connect with
<server-ip>:<port>. See connecting to your server. - Accept the EULA if asked. Minecraft servers require you to accept Mojang's EULA. The console links to it on first start.
- Upload your files. For bots and apps, upload your code with the file manager.
- Check the startup settings. Things like the version, main file or startup command live in Startup settings.
Choosing resources for a first server
| What you are running | Memory | CPU | Disk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small Discord bot | 512 MiB | 25 to 50% | 1 to 2 GB |
| Minecraft Paper, a few friends | 3 to 4 GB | 100% | 5 GB |
| TeamSpeak 3 or Mumble | 256 to 512 MiB | 20% | 1 GB |
| Source game (TF2, GMod) | 2 to 3 GB | 100% | depends on game files |
These are rough starting points. Watch usage in the console and adjust in the Resources section.
Common problems
- Install seems stuck: large games download several GB on install. Give it a few minutes and check the console output.
- Not enough resources: lower another server's allocation or delete one you no longer need.
- Server will not start: see server stuck starting or won't start.
Still stuck?
Ask in the Schokr Discord with your template, location and what the console shows.
